Why spa at home?

Granted that we all have periods of stress at some time, and that some me-time is useful (see my last blog), the next question that I want to address is: Why Spa at Home? Wouldn't it be easier  (and more effective?!) to go to a "proper" spa and get pampered there?

So, to begin my research, I went to:
http://www.spabreak.co.uk
and looked at spas in the North East of England, which is where I'm based.

A couple of things occurred to me:
  • the nearest spa is at least a 40 minute drive away
  • there seems to be an expectation that you will spend at least half a day at the spa
  • prices start at £65
  • everyone in the pictures looks beautiful!
Now I would love to drive off for a day - or better yet a few days - and spends hundreds of pounds and get completely pampered, but how realistic is this?!
  • Who would look after the children, if you have them?
  • What about work, especially if you run your own business?
  • Can YOU afford the time and money to do this?
  • Do you want a load of strangers to see you sitting around in a robe - or worse still - a swimsuit?!
So I'm going to suggest some things that we can do in our own homes, when we have a shorter amount of time, with either items around the home or products that will cost a whole lot less than a trip to one of those spas... in your tatty old dressing gown if necessary!
